Chios, Greece

Chios is the second largest island in the northern Aegean, situated south of Lesvos, with a coastal perimeter of approximately 500 miles. The highest point of Chios is Mt. Pelineon (1297m). The island of Chios has frequent ferry connections with Piraeus (Athens) and Thessaloniki as well as Turkey.

At any time of the year Chios is ready to offer a dream holiday experience to the visitors to this island paradise. Mild winter with little rainfall, calm seas and the characteristic ‘meltemi’, the strong, dry northerly wind of the Agean Sea which blows during the summer months moderates the heat of the atmosphere.

The great thing about Chios is that it has plenty to offer to every kind of holidaymaker: a wealth of natural beauty, picturesque traditional villages and magnificent beaches. This beautiful island, a harmonious blend of natural charm, tradition and modernity, offers a unique experience to its visitors.

Karfas is situated only 7 km from the capital and 3 km from the airport. It is one of the most popular resorts of Chios and offers one of the most cosmopolitan beaches of the island, attracting many tourists and locals alike every summer. The beach of Karfas is a huge stretch of sand suitable for sunbathing. It is an organised beach offering all the usual facilities such as sunbeds, umbrellas and lifeguard assistance. The beach of Karfas has also a variety of water sports on offer. The waters are warm and shallow which makes the beach suitable for little ones.

There are a number of hotels and apartments in the Karfas area as well as tavernas, mini markets, and bar-cafes. There are also local buses running daily, linking Karfas with Chios town as well as other areas of the island.
